It’s been 12 years since the release of Peter Joseph’s Zeitgeist: Moving Forward the third installment in his controversial and globally recognized Zeitgeist Film Series. In 2007, his art piece, Zeitgeist The Movie (originally not intended for public release), created a viral phenomenon on the internet with hundreds of millions of views worldwide. As a trilogy, the series was featured on Netflix for seven years and collectively has been estimated to have been seen by over 1 billion people through free distribution in 70 languages so far. Joseph, author of The New Human Rights Movement published by Ben Bella Books much of which his documentaries and activist work are based upon has created numerous media works.
With this new feature film documentary production planned for a 2024 release, Zeitgeist | Requiem, Peter Joseph continues his investigation into the incompatibility between modern capitalism and future human survival. Departing from ideological dogma, this work centers around systems science development, while still recognizing market economics as having fundamental properties within it, however, if humanity wishes to address destabilizing inequality & environmental decline problems then there needs to be invented an entirely new economic model.
Informed largely by the works of Stafford Beer, Jay Forrester Donella Meadows et al, within the contemporary systems science community this movie will diagnose current societal order failures along with presenting a defined solution consisting of parallel economy creation through cooperative development via cybernetics approach; which is meant to help scale out community based design revolution capable of strategically overcoming what he views as “the most dangerous element of civilization” our economy as it stands now & culture produced thereby.
Often dismissed as “communism,” “technocracy” or “conspiracy theory,” ‘Zeitgeist | Requiem’ refutes such dogmas and propagandas; instead illuminating that we are not dealing with some vague ideology or nefarious hidden cabal but rather victims of a society with certain incentives and procedures that continue guiding human behavior destructively while masquerading as ‘normality.’
