Match Point
Incredibly in this list of thriller movies to watch at all costs we include a film by Woody Allen. The king of comedy. Which people know mostly for his gags, and his psychological blunders. There is a side of the New York director that not everyone knows, namely the more noir or thriller side. He demonstrates this well in the 2005 film, Match Point, starring Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Scarlett Johansson. In the center of the narrative is a dangerous love triangle, which will lead to tragic conclusions.
In this film, Allen takes inspiration from great literary classics such as Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment and revises concepts already expressed in his previous film Crimes and Misdemeanors. Particularly, there will be a lot of talk about fate. A sense of guilt and destiny: in fact, these visions of his are collected within an ideal trilogy that sees the first two films mentioned and Irrational Man, released in 2015. For this film, Woody Allen also won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Zodiac

Shutter Island
This film was in the balance between being and not being added to this list, not because it’s not valid but precisely because it’s so well known that it doesn’t need further publicity. Looking back though, a thriller like that must always nominate for the Oscars. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film we are talking about is Shutter Island. Adapted for the cinema from the homonymous novel by Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, and the recent Law of the night. In the cast, we find Leonardo Di Caprio and Mark Ruffalo in the role of two detectives, intent on investigating the secrets of a mental asylum, located on an island.
Without dwelling on the plot. It must be said that the strength of this film is certainly the plot and the twists it brings with it. Accompanied by magnificent interpretations such as those of Ben Kingsley and Michelle Williams, as well as the protagonists, and a direction that only a master of cinema like Scorsese knows how to give. This film is part of the psychological thriller genre. In fact, it plays with our mind several times during the vision, destabilizing our unconscious, like that of the characters. Curiosity: the asylum and the island don’t really exist, or rather they don’t have realistic sets. Everything is captured using models.
