Rathnam Movie Review

Rathnam (played by Vishal) is an explosive character he works for MLA Panneer Selvam (Samuthirakani), meting out perverted justice through muscle power and fear. But Rathnam can’t control himself there are times when he doesn’t want to either. For instance, when he learns about a schoolgirl being abused by a sadistic maniac, it only takes him minutes before he commits one disgusting crime after another in the name of revenge. But while still trying to come to terms with his violent nature, here comes Mallika (Priya Bhavani Shankar), a nurse who bears an uncanny resemblance with his mother. This discovery makes things more complicated for him. Mallika attracts Rathnam’s protective instincts when thugs sent by Beema Rayudu (Murali Sarma), an Andhra based notorious land-grabber start chasing after her.

This leads into non-stop brutal killings spree where each level boss gets battered down till they can no longer continue fighting back against our hero who wants nothing other than keeping Mallika safe at any cost even if it means butting heads with Rayudu again later on down the line until this evil man gives up all hope knowing that rathnamm will always be one step ahead of him so long as she remains by his side safe from harm’s way wherever they may roam across India itselfs borders during their journey together which spans over several days or maybe weeks depending upon how fast these two can move!

As anticipated, Vishal is the unchallenged hero of the film. Agility, fierceness and rowdy appeal is portrayed by him as Rathnam perfectly. With speedy cutting and generous employment of slow motion (which are also used stylishly), his fighting abilities are displayed through elevated action sequences. Priya Bhavani Shankar does a good job within her limited role as someone who cares about others’ well-

being seeing that she becomes interested in Rathnam’s protective nature towards people around him.

Samuthirakani’s MLA character mainly serves as a damage control officer for all the messes created by Rathnam but brings his usual seriousness to it so as not to be overshadowed by Yogi Babu whose comedy relief has its own highs and lows; sometimes funny other times not so much. Being scary all through Murali Sharma shows terror as villain while aging is shown on screen when looking at him because one gets to see a bad guy who is also middle-aged man.

When Gautham Menon makes an appearance even if only briefly expectedly loud cheers from audience follow suit since this director tends to evoke such reactions with his cameos where he plays different characters each time which may have been case here too but no details were disclosed about what type exactly those roles would be except that they always receive great response anyway hence nobody should have been surprised at how things turned out regarding this matter either way (“Gautham Menon unexpectedly receives loudest cheers from audience in cameo appearance”). The rest of the cast members perform their duties satisfactorily.
