In this satirical story created for a reason, Siju Wilson acts as Sanoj. Right from the beginning, “Panchavalsara Padhathi” highlights the main character’s uncorrupted fight against kickbacks. The film is directed by P G Premlal and it relies heavily on the hero to drive its punch through performance agility. Unfortunately, Siju’s sluggish mannerisms and physical presence do little to solidly support plot advancement; the role calls for a more elastic star with better gracefulness and energy. While the conflict sets well in the screenplay, various aspects of the theme in narration are not cashed on by Premlal. All in all sloppy attempts at dealing with heavy content is evident throughout production.
The narrative follows life in a colony in Kalamberi village where people lack basic amenities such as water supply among others. Sanoj knows of these things because he grew up there as a kid; when his friend’s mother dies accidentally it triggers something within him about doing something for this place that has never really been kind to them since childhood days anyway. So what does he do? Well, being an intelligent young man who loves adventure too much even when it comes with risks attached like visiting dangerous places alone or at odd hours without telling anyone where you’re going which happens quite often, our guy decides to approach Balan (P P Kunhikrishnan) whose resort lies abandoned near some hill ranges thinking up one smart plan after another.
But here is one thing I can tell you this movie will make your brain hurt! With each passing minute, confusion sets deeper into my mind and just when I think I have figured out what’s happening BAM!! Another twist comes out of nowhere leaving me scratching my head all over again. It seemed like nobody knew their left hand from right or if they did then nobody bothered using them correctly because half the time characters were talking gibberish at best while others acted like complete lunatics on screen. The worst part? You couldn’t even blame it on bad acting since every single person in that cast gave a performance so bizarrely captivating (yes, even those with limited screen time) that had me begging for more information about who these people were and how they got involved. All I can say is this if you’re looking for something different, something unique, something that will keep your eyes glued to the screen while also making them roll back into their sockets with confusion then look no further than “Panchavalsara Padhathi”. It might not make sense but boy oh boy was it entertaining!
