Plus Points
Mahesh Babu has easily slipped into his most awaited role where he showcased rough-toughness along with captivating Guntur dialect. His charm in each frame keeps delightful experience for all his fans.
Again perfectly casted for Guntur Kaaram Prakash Raj delivers commendable performance as minister and also Mahesh Babu’s grandfather. Their combination works well on screen which adds weightage to the movie.
Ramya Krishnan has given subtle yet impact creating performance but her character needed more space considering it being a story revolving around her.Certainly she leaves fine impression though having limited screentime.
Vennela Kishore might be seen doing comedy alongside Mahesh Babu but other than them rest of cast were just average performers who couldn’t generate laughter from audience except few smiles here & there…
Minus Points
The major drawback of this film lies in its narrative where Trivikram failed to come up with exciting storyline or at least stronger screenplay which could help it to hold back emotions. Emotional scenes were written poorly that impacted overall engagement.
Guntur Kaaram has many unwanted characters which have no contribution at all towards the main story line. Meenakshii Chaudhary, Rahul Ravindran, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh & Jayaram were completely wasted in the movie which are its other big negatives.
Post a promising start the first half loses pace as we approach interval block and post that there’s no scope left for powerful latter half itself where one should work on script & screenplay development.
Music compositions by Mani Sharma are just okay but nothing special except Mahesh Babu’s dance with Sreeleela which is treat for fans…
Technical Aspects
Trivikram Srinivas falls short of making strong impact both as writer and director. A more connecting storyline might have worked wonders for this film. Thaman’s musical contribution is below par.
Cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa is good while editing should have been much better especially in trimming few unnecessary scenes by Navin Nooli. Overall production value wise Guntur Karraam looks rich on screen.
Verdict
On the whole, Guntur Kaaram works here and there mainly because of Mahesh Babu’s screen presence, accent and one liners. But weak story line, slow narration, unimpressive screenplay with too many unwanted episodes may restrict its reach among larger sections of audience. This sankranthi season Guntur Kaaram may not satisfy all section of audience but for those who love energetic performances from their star heroes like Mahesh Babu can give it a try!
