Joe is the man and it is an innovative YouTube web television series that currently has 17 episodes or “stages,” with 11 episodes animated by Studio Joho and six by Octopie. Joe Brumm created the Dan The Man series, while Dan Brumm was responsible for the music and sound effects.
From 2010 to 2013, the first seven episodes were posted on Studio Joho’s YouTube channel. It was revealed in Stage 7 that the next stage would be released as a game. The game received positive reviews when it soft launched in 2015 and was globally released on Oct. 5, 2016. To go with the game, the first seven stages were reuploaded onto Halfbrick Studios’ YouTube channel on Sept. 20, 2016, and a video version of Stage 8 was released on Feb. 4, 2017. The next episode of the series would not come out until Nov. 26, 2021.These nine episodes would make up season one, with season two following in 2022 and season three planned for release in 2024.
The way it tells its story is what sets this web series apart from others like it.The show revolves around an unseen player trying to beat a video game.They do this by taking control of a character named The Ginger Ninja (AKA Dan name chosen by player in Stage One) who acts as their avatar throughout each level called “Stage” they complete.
There are hidden objectives within every stage which must be met before proceeding further into said stage usually achieved towards end of video. Dan can also learn a skill that helps him complete these stages but this happens only during stage two and three. If at any point during a given stage dan dies then everything goes back to square one except for seventh when characters lose memory about past events except eighth.
Dan lives many adventures throughout his world. He satisfies princess’s greed, gets involved with rebels fighting against corrupt government while also battling cult that worships chickens among others. His lover, two bar buddies and magic stick figure whom he meets on the way teach him valuable lessons which prove useful when things get tough. Every decision made by Dan and therefore player changes story line leading to most thrilling moments in this series.
