Bhima and Rama (Gopichand) are twins with totally different natures. Their relationship is strained by a key event during their childhoods which makes them take different paths. Bhima sets on a brave mission to become a police officer while Rama lives as a timid orthodox priest following the traditions set before him. Taking up his duties in Mahendragiri, an enigmatic city believed to be Parasurama’s chosen land in mythology, Bhima comes face to face with Ravindra Varma (Nassar), a local ayurvedic doctor who wants to become godlike and his partner Bhavani. It remains to be seen whether or not she will succeed in destroying all evil forces that have infiltrated this place of mythological importance and how much involvement will there be from Ram during such epic encounter.

Directed by A Harsha featuring Gopichand, Malvika Sharma and Priya Bhavani Shankar among others, Bhimaa is an action packed drama filled with mystic elements based on various myths. The film starts off promisingly enough with some background information about Mahendragiri but unfortunately falls back into cliches like overacting heroes, shallow love stories etcetera.

As Bhima or Rama, Gopichand does an excellent job bringing out both characters’ heroism through commanding presence alone never mind looks which help too, Malvika Sharma plays Vidhya teacher cum-PhD scholar who eventually wins over our protagonist’s heart though her personality hardly gets developed beyond being pretty face while Priya portrays Pani convincingly even if we see very little screen time for this role until second half only where needed most Vennela Naresh Chandra Sarayu Rohini Raghu Babu Kishore Poorna Nassar Tiwari Mukesh among others make notable contributions towards creating depth within story line.

Technically speaking, Bhimaa is a well-produced film with good music from Ravi Basrur (of KGF and Salaar fame) but although the songs help set mood they tend to be forgotten once one has watched the movie.
