Armenia,-My-Home

The documentary is narrated by Andrea Martin (“Only Murders in the Building”) and highlights voices from the Armenian diaspora such as actor Eric Bogosian (“Succession”); author Chris Bohjalian (HBO’s “The Flight Attendant”); Pulitzer Prize-winning author Peter Balakian (Black Dog of Fate); journalist Araksya Karapetyan (“Good Day LA”), author Dawn Anahid Mackeen (The Hundred-Year Walk); Conan O’Brien’s right-hand woman Sona Movsesian; and Bishop Mesrop Parsamyan, Primate of the Eastern Diocese of NY. Also featured are educator Dottie Bengoian, internationally acclaimed artist Michael Aram, comedian Vahe Berberian, and scholars Ron Suny and Salpi Ghazarian.

“Armenia, My Home” pays tribute to the modern-day Armenian Republic and its people while giving a glimpse into the ancient history of the world’s first Christian nation that stretches back almost 3,000 years. From medieval monasteries tucked away in northern forests to the magnificent Hellenistic temple of Garni, this documentary covers a lot of ground across Armenia’s varied landscapes.

Starting with sweeping views of Mount Ararat from the Caucasian mountains themselves before sweeping down into Yerevan for a city tour; “Armenia, My Home’ blends epic with everyday life which is why it will make any Armenian American cry at least once or twice. The film also features spiritual charm through Armenian music throughout telling a story that resonates like no other with east meets west.

“For many people we interviewed for this movie Armenia isn’t just another country it’s part of who they are,” said director Andrew Goldberg. “This community has survived against all odds. It represents not only nations but some very resilient individuals.”

“It is an honor to be able to tell the story behind my ancestors lives through this incredible documentary,” said Emmy Award-winning actress Andrea Martin. “As an Armenian, I feel deeply connected with our past and am very excited about what we have created here together.”

Filmed on state of the art cameras and drones the visual representation of Armenia has been revolutionized by a team of cinematographers who worked on such films as “Thor: Love and Thunder” and upcoming “Mad Max Furiosa.” This new approach will simply put give audiences the most visually stunning portrayal of Armenia ever seen before.

Adding another level of truth to this already authentic work; “Armenia, My Home” takes us into a dungeon that is nearly 2 thousand years old giving viewers their first glimpse at what could be some ancient Armenian history. And while we are busy taking in all those beautiful landscapes there is also time for reflection on more complicated matters like genocide or recent events in Artsakh because hey these things happened so near us didn’t they?
