Amazon Queen
Amazon Queen is a thriller that has the elements of adventure, mystery, love, crime and nostalgia all centered on the Amazon River which is very enigmatic and last enigmatic. Marlin Darrah is a director, and from the beginning of the film, in theaters, it is all about the failed robbery. Naturally, the cash that was stolen has to be retrieved somewhere in the jungle, The Tucano a river boat owned by Jackies (Carly diamond stone) mother for many years is also up in arms since she sold to her daughter who is now torn by her mother’s ill fate and constantly struggling with financial and mechanical problems as she fathoms the future in despair.
She extensively makes sure that she spends as much time as possible on the Amazon River and into the jungle with her for a “life experience”. But the truth is ‘once the boat is cast off the moorings’ The Tucano, taking five passengers: robbers Machado (Massi Furlan) and Silva (Clayton Meek) and their journalist friend Sam (Alfonso DiLuca), as well as mother and daughter Maggie (Vicky Dawson) and Leilah (Cristina Encarnacion), rushes for the obscure a long way off from everything including the corona virus.
The beauty of the ship’s wooden interior, scenes filled with dancing and music with wine on the deck during sunset, a murder of passion, a plot where no one can get off the boat or so we think, Paints a picturesque story that reminds one of an Agatha Christie novel. Julio Ortiz Vargas and Thomas Flynn have a different dream (nick Dreselly Thomas), where business teasing overrides the pleasure. With very little motivation to do otherwise, Jackie and the captain keep shifting the boat. What was supposed to be an adventure of a lifetime in the rainforest soon transforms into a struggle for survival.
As Jackie embarks to an Indigenous village, a familiar figure crops up, her estranged father Francisco (Carson grant), who has been left to die suffering from cancer. His play has always been to try to reconcile and make things right, and as expected, Jackie does not welcome him with open arms. On the other hand, he possesses a wealth of knowledge about the Tucano and its mission, so he is unquestionably permitted onboard.
The Mach ado and Silva, back, stepped out from the Tacna village, attend to several chores, darting around the boat, impatiently waiting for the commencement of their assignment to go rob the money that was abducted somewhere along the Amazon. And all these brought violence.
Definitely not one of the best Amazon film but predictable plot, thanks to beautiful scenery especially the animal, birds and jungle shots, makes a good ambiance. The movie is set during the pandemic, or at least it was shot during it, but once the trip starts, all average people wish this was real. The palace, the boat, the set yes, as already mentioned, the set and art design of The Tucano do its job very well. It is a nice looking ship. One can consider, or should consider, that the hard (or difficult, or strong) asymmetry of grotesque characters is concealed beneath the surface of beauty.
But the idea of the rain forest which islanders are trying to protect from destruction for pastures, is also not so clear. Therefore, it doesn’t pull enough, unlike plots of Machado and Silva and Francisco’s struggle. But still, because of some nice acting, of fantastic cinematography and than crackling main plot, America Amazon Queen is more fascinating and absorbing than not.
