Aa Okkati Adakku

Aa-Okkati-Adakku

Story

Ganapathi, who is also known as Gana (Allari Naresh), is a government officer who, despite many attempts hasn’t been able to get married. He registers with Happy Matrimony on his friend’s suggestion and falls for lively and attractive young woman Sidhi (Faria Abdullah). But an ugly truth about Sidhi comes out while they are getting to know each other which makes it complicated. Can Gana overcome these new challenges and societal pressure of being unmarried to find love?

Plus Points

Allari Naresh is back in his comedy elements and he has done it with great timing. It’s an impeccable act performed by him. Faria Abdullah deserves applause for choosing such a complex grey shaded character and performing well. Actors like Vennela Kishore, Harsh Chemudu, Jamie Lever have added lot of humour to the film. They were able to make audience laugh during much needed times. The film talks about present day families especially marriage issues. There were scenes that showed how marriage is today in society, traditions and expectations around it.

Minus Points

Movie tries too hard on message delivery than comedy which lead to missing chances of humor with Allari Naresh around. In the second half the film goes into serious zone which could not engage viewers like first half did with its comedy. Kalpa Latha & Jamie Lever could have created strong emotional connect but were used as mere characters only, climax lacked depth

More laughs could have been extracted by giving some more time for Harsha Chemudu & Vennela Kishore on screen, songs were just okay & both halves have pacing issues which made overall impact weak.

Technical Aspects

First time director Malli Ankam’s attempt to mix comedy with social message is appreciable but screenplay lacks professionalismness from him otherwise one can learn about how matrimony platforms work through this film itself though few things seems irrelevant or outdated. The production values are good.

Abburi Ravi’s dialogues didn’t have much punch in them, Suryaa’s Cinematography & Gopi Sundar’s Music were apt but Chota K Prasad could have done better editing wise as well. Still, it is a decent film technically.

Verdict.

Overall, Aa Okkati Adakku has its share of laughs and relevant message to society too. Allari Naresh, Faria Abdullah, Harsha Chemudu, Vennela Kishore and Jamie Lever entertain with their performances but execution could not meet the expectations set by them due to pacing issues & climax being flat. So manage your expectations before going for this one!
