Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 17: In today’s Indian film industry, it is only good content and direction that is reigning supreme. As seen from recently released movies, it is clear that the audience is only promoting good and strong stories on the film screen. Bollywood has always been said to be a place where newcomers take time to establish themselves.

These days there has been talk in Bollywood about ‘The Lipstick Boy’, a film based on true incidents; the reason for this being the fact that megastar Amitabh Bachchan has supported the movie. It is said that Mr Bachchan has lent his voice to the story of this film. The screening of the movie took place at Mona Theater during Bihar film festival on 24th March, which was also celebrated as Bihar Diwas. Secretary, art culture and youth govt. of Bihar Smt. Bandana Preyashi graced the screening with her presence.

This film is directed by Abhinav Thakur who had previously made ‘Yeh Suhagrat Impossible’ which was well received by audience with good IMDb rating . This film came into existence when he met a folk dancer from Bihar Mr. Kumar Uday Singh, at NSD campus , Delhi . He has also directed many short films which are available on various ott platforms . His upcoming direction ventures are Bisaahee and Back Waters .

Talking about the movie Director Abhinav Thakur said, “Through this picture we want to show that our culture’s associated artists struggle a lot to earn their livelihoods while performing famous Launda Naach i.e songs-dance-comedy-satire-puns-banter-parody-theatre where men impersonate women in performances, amongst country & World . Unfortunately this art form is slowly dying; there was an era when this dance was done by women wearing costumes but Shri Bhikhari Thakur ji is given credit for conceptualising it.

Bidesia dominated the corridors of Bollywood through the play written by him, but with changing times both people’s interests as well as traditions have changed. Even today in Bihar there are many such artists who are keeping this dance form alive; this film is inspired from life of famous Launda dancer Kumar Uday Singh & other similar performers from Bihar. When any artist dances today in woman’s environment, people mock at that person look down upon him call her launda with inferiority complex but still he doesn’t give up his art neither let his culture die away.” Director Abhinav Thakur depicts actors’ stories and struggle through ‘The Lipstick Boy’ on big screen.

The Hindi film “The Lipstick Boy” produced under the banner of Sand Films Production was based on the famous folk dance (Launda Naach) of Bihar. Bollywood MegaStar Amitabh Bachchan has given his special voice in the film, and appreciated the film also by Hon’Shri Tarkishore Prasad, Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, former Bihar Governor honourable Shri Phagu Chauhan; while appreciating the film, they congratulated the filmmaker Abhinav Thakur and encouraged youth to introduce vanishing culture of Bihar.

The response to the movie is amazing. People of all ages were in the theater and showed their appreciation by cheering loudly. The film was made for creative freedom throughout the world. It will soon be among us, produced by Deepak Sawant and Nikunj Shekhar.

Deepak Sawant, who is considered to be Amitabh Bachchan’s lucky charm, has always supported Bihar content as well; Nikunj Shekhar thanked everyone involved with this project for their hard work too.

Manoj Patel from Bihar plays the lead role in this movie as an actor known for his work in films and TV shows alike; Sriparna Chakravrty, Saurabh Safari, Ravikant Singh, Ladli Roy (South Actress), Santosh Mehra etc, are portraying characters who have roots which are connected with story line directly or indirectly. Music has been given by Manoranjan Ojha & it was shot at Nalanda (Bihar) & Patna (Bihar) in 2020 but due to Pandemic Lockdown the Movie didn’t get released yet and now it will be soon

This is a very interesting watch because it presents itself like a documentary however all these performances make everything feel so real while watching them act out events that could’ve really happened somewhere before our eyes took place right here on screen with us. Overall I would say this feature is about murder being senseless which leads nowhere along side Irish politics mixed up police negligence.
