Forest Movie Review:

In our cinema, there have been many antagonists who turned out to be unintentionally funny. The latest addition to that list is Victor Mahadevan from Kaa. They have visualized him as a strong character like Christopher in Ratsasan. Some of the decisions taken by the makers in the presentation of Victor Mahadevan are really annoying. Throughout the film, they keep making him say his full name even till the very end. If during any point, somewhere or sometimes it did occur to them that it would be nice if bad guy says his name again and again, then they were absolutely right about this.

The second half of Kaa is better than its slow moving first half where nothing much happens. The later half truly peaks into a cat and mouse game and these moments are genuinely interesting. Cinematography and sound design successfully bring out the creepiness of an atmosphere. Kaa is one film where moments are captured miles ahead than what’s being captured.

It does succeed in creating a spooky vibe around multiple people fighting for their lives but apart from that, the screenplay goes haywire. A flashback with which the film opens gets called back at the end but instead of giving us more clarity on what happened, it leaves us more confused than ever before This particular moment seems convoluted rather than effective.

No actor makes an impact in Kaa. Andrea Jeremiah has amazing screen presence but she is let down by an inconsistent screenplay Her character isn’t given much chance to become anything beyond intriguing on surface level.
