The five year old boy Prince of Kurukshetra fell into a borewell that was 60 feet deep. The whole country followed his fight for life and prayed for him. Gabriel Vats, the director and writer of Gauraiya Live, sets his film in Madhya Pradesh’s capital city Bhopal around a similar incident with Raja Bhoj serving as the narrator. It is a survival drama of young Gauraiya (Ada Singh), who lives at a construction site with her father Rampal (Omkar Das), mother (Seema Saini), elder sister (Riddhi Gupta) and younger brother (Aarav Rangare). This film, however, is not about her struggle to survive or the mission of rescue. The first half depicts Gauraiya’s background and her family’s hardships while the latter part shows how insensitive people can be even in times of calamity.
The narrative is built on delivering a message about haves versus have nots. It portrays difficulties faced by socio-economically deprived classes, class differences and dowry evils among others but also highlights failures of rich builders, politicians and education system towards those living on peripheries of society or marginalized groups like this child here portrayed as weak due these very systems failures around them which eventually forces people in power such as politicians etc., try to cover up their track records by providing education opportunities; housing facilities; offering money help etc., all aimed at benefiting those disadvantaged individuals they serve when really nothing has changed except enriching themselves further more using public funds meant for development purposes only without any tangible results achieved so far if anything it only worsens matters further instead making things better off than before still falling behind schedule even though there are some improvements being made here there but not enough yet why because we lack commitment here from leaders down up levels until we take action against these corrupt officials then expect things to turn around miraculously overnight but until then let’s keep fighting against them tirelessly hoping that one day our dreams will come true otherwise this will remain another sad story among many others already recorded throughout history books if nothing is done about it sooner rather than later.
