The film 105 Minutes which is directed by Raju Dussa, starring Hansika Motwani as a young girl named Jaanu has been released. Here is our review of it.
As she is returning home from shopping on a rainy night, she finds herself involved with some weird and creepy incidents. Is there anything wrong in her house? What or who is scaring her? What happened at last? These are the questions whose answers lie in this film.
This movie has been claimed to be an experimental single character single shot film from the beginning which definitely created curiosity among people but yes it does justice partially too.
Hansika Motwani acts well within the limited scope of her character Jaanu. She emotes effectively and blends into different situations quite smoothly.
What can be appreciated about the director’s attempt to have ‘one shot’ film with ‘one character’ also needs to be mentioned that it’s not completely one shot. Filmmaker takes cinematic liberties and uses editing techniques to create an illusion of continuity itself being a take without any cuts.
No matter what story you choose, telling a coherent and ‘understandable’ narrative becomes imperative. Sadly enough ’105 Minutes’ doesn’t meet this criterion. After few minutes into watching, one might think that now director will reveal why these things happening but no! It never comes until end thereby leaving audience confused about what message does movie wants to convey ultimately keeping them waiting for more than necessary hours still hiding behind events making everything less clear than ever before.
Some scenes are unnecessarily prolonged while some of Hansika’s reactions appear overdone too where suspense should be maintained by showing reasons behind her horrified expressions later instead just giving them all away once for all now.
SFX (sound effects) are meant to set right ambiance according to the scene but here they just annoy more than scare.
Writer & Director Raju Dussa may have had plans to disclose more things in second part but considering execution of this one itself lacks depth.
An impactful score was expected from Sam CS given his talent however he disappoints with dull work which could have really made audience scared if composed keeping theme in mind. Cameraman Kishore Boyidapu deserves appreciation particularly during slow dragging parts where editing is decent along with production values being okay.
All in all 105 Minutes is an unbearable horror film that doesn’t do much apart from a not so bad performance by Hansika and some good camera work. It’s better to avoid such movies as they may spoil your weekend therefore go for any other source entertainment available these days.
