Dominion

Dominion

When it comes to movie genres, I am a big fan of horror. After that, I would say comedy and sci-fi are tied for second place.

As a child, I always gravitated towards things people thought were “weird” or “creepy.” One thing in particular that fascinated me the most was the unknown. This included things such as UFO’s and aliens.

Although some may not agree with me, I do believe there is life on other planets. Maybe not in our solar system, but definitely somewhere out there in another galaxy. There are billions upon billions of planets in the universe; it would be naive to think Earth is the ONLY one with living organisms inhabiting its surface. They might not be humanoids like us humans on Earth either they could resemble anything from bacteria or viruses to plants or animals (or even something completely different altogether).

The idea of extraterrestrial life excites AND scares me at the same time. On one hand, it would be absolutely mind-blowing if we ever came into contact with an alien civilization! Just imagine being able to talk face to face with a creature from another world who can actually tell us what their planet is like and how they live there what more could anyone ask for? But then again what if these guys turn out to be hostile? Or worse yet: what if they’re already here among us but just waiting for the right moment before revealing themselves? We could all DIE!!!

There’s this new DVD release called Dominion: The Last Star Warrior which deals heavily with extraterrestrial life forms.

I don’t know any of the actors except Booboo Stewart who played Seth Clearwater in Twilight Saga’s Eclipse (2010) & its sequels as well Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants franchises where he portrayed Jay (son of Jafar).

In five days, everything changes with destroying result.s A man from another planet falls head over heels for an earthling; he must find her as fast as possible. A retired US intelligence officer turned UFO investigator races against time while trying to figure out what a secret organization called DOMINION plans to do with humanity.

It’s like Independence Day (1996), but not on the same level. Alien ships, alien beings, a plan to blow up Earth. Yeah… except this one doesn’t have Will Smith or Jeff Goldblum in starring roles so acting might not be too great either.

I don’t know if I’d call it a good movie though; it wasn’t BAD either – somewhere between those two extremes actually. Let’s just say that by the time credits rolled down my screen, there still were some things left unexplained which I thought could’ve been done better. However, hubby lost interest pretty quickly after seeing first few minutes even though for me personally overall entertainment value was enough make sit through whole thing plus overlook some its quirkinesses here and there.

Acting-wise though these performances weren’t exactly Oscar-worthy let alone any other awards caliber stuff if you catch my drift? More like watching afternoon specials we used to have back during 80s where they would show them on TV right after kids came home from school entertaining but soon forgotten afterwards type deal.

The storyline itself isn’t bad in my opinion especially when taking into account that something like this COULD happen eventually anyway; however lackluster portrayals cheesy made for TV like special effects did ruin bit for me admit.

I mean come ON now people give us at least ONE cool looking explosion or laser blast effect please!!! For Christ sakes even “Battlestar Galactica” had more than what little was shown here!!!

So all you die hard sci-fi fans out there may wanna skip renting Dominion tonight; teenagers will love it though! Great sleepover night flick that girls can scream at boys with their heads under covers about when they get scared!
