Lockdown 2025

Lockdown 2025

In the shadow of an incredibly infectious disease, a typical family hides in their own home during a national lockdown enforced by martial law. When they have nowhere to go and evil comes knocking at the door, this family must confront the darkness that infects them from within or die trying.

Symbolizing what can happen if we refuse change in our lives, Lockdown 2025 is most successful when it keeps things small; unfortunately, it often tries too hard to be bigger than itself.

This feature deserves some credit for attempting to reach great heights because shooting for the stars always takes courage. It frequently attempts to depict larger events taking place simultaneously with another film series adjacent in The Purge franchise.

The problem lies in how those effects are executed on screen: although they may work occasionally, mostly these graphics just seem out-of-place and lazy. The worst example occurs when boyfriend tries escaping to check on his family only for helicopter shooting him down; helicopter looks terrible here but ultimately doesn’t lead anywhere within story line of movie.

And so all various story beats along with stuffed side pieces scatter themselves throughout this thing like confetti at Mardi Gras parade no rhyme or reason whatsoever. Characters seem to change attitudes faster than people change clothes based solely off convenience rather than anything resembling believability while ending comes across as having multiple points where it could have ended yet didn’t need keep going so long.

As you watch Lockdown 2025, it feels more like reading through early draft script than experiencing something final on screen. There are some good ideas buried beneath what ends up being convoluted mess but had these been presented differently or simply then maybe there would’ve been more powerful moments delivered.

It’s also disappointing because where this movie was headed with its story actually quite nice plus having African American father who clearly loves his family despite personal flaws was inspired choice; however perhaps solution would’ve been keeping things contained around main catalyst of world going crazy rather than trying push past current capabilities/budget allowed for.

All that said though there’s still enough here to suggest checking out Lockdown 2025 despite overburdened plotline and lackluster special effects. Some members of cast clearly gave their all while few concepts did work but may not justify time invested sitting down through whole thing just reach those points.
