Behind Enemy Lines is an uncomplicated, straight ahead war story about an airplane pilot, flying the Christmas reconnaissance mission, who gets off coarse and spots a Bosnian war grave. He is shot down at exactly the same time a peace deal is struck and his command officer has to decide whether to save him and go against orders, or to let him find his way to help.
This movie had more ups and downs then the Rocky Mountains. It was fast paced one second, and then he was just sitting behind a tree the next. Another negative was that there were A LOT of subtitles. I don’t know about you but when I see that many subtitles in an English movie I kind of get a little bored! War movies obviously don’t have much dialogue, (especially when they’re about a man who’s lost and trying to find his way home) and so when half of the dialogue was in Bosnian I was a bit irritated.
Now, I’m not saying this movie is bad I actually enjoyed most of it. One thing that really stuck out at me was the cinematography (camera work). It added a whole new dimension to the movie. This is a straight ahead movie not hard to understand at all, and very easy to follow. Great acting by Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson sure helped too!
