Austin Powers In Goldmember is the third installment of the Austin Powers series. Austin is at the height of his career, there’s even a movie being made about him starring Tom Cruise. He’s Britain’s number two spy, behind his father Nigel Powers. The only part of his life that isn’t fulfilled is his relationship with his father. So when Goldmember and Austin’s nemesis Dr. Evil kidnap Nigel, Austin comes to save his father and the world.
This is the funniest Austin Powers movie yet! A minute rarely passes where you don’t laugh. My favorite part of the movie was the beginning, where they’re filming an Austin Powers movie, starring Tom Cruise, Gwenyth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey, Danny De Vito, Steven Spielberg and John Travolta. (Brittany Spears and the Osbournes also have cameos throughout the movie. The small cameos and the context they were in made for some hilarious jokes. By far the best opening scene of the year!
Mike Myers could quite possibly be the best actor to come off of Saturday Night Live (or at least you could make a case for it). He’s extremely funny, he’s starred in some very successful Hollywood movies, he can play four characters in the same film, and he writes his own scripts! I don’t think anyone would argue that Mike Myers does the most voices!
I wasn’t a huge fan of the first Austin Powers. But when the second one came around, I was still interested in seeing it. Along with Mini Me and Fat Bastard, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me had more jokes, and funnier jokes (More goofball and less perverted than the first movie). Austin Powers In Goldmember features all our favorite characters from the second movie (minus Felicity Shagwell who isn’t mentioned at all) plus Goldmember and Foxxy Cleopatra. I thought Goldmember was stupid and not funny at all… But Foxxy was yet another great Austin Powers girl. (Oh, this movie also has a song with Dr. Evil and Mini Me!)
For those of you who haven’t seen anAustin Powers movie yet, where have you been? Austin Powers have been the “it” comedy franchise since Austin Powers International Man of Mystery hit video. Its jokes have brought smiles and laughs to millions. Its characters have made us think and then laugh until our laughs have hung over to the next joke and we’re laughing at that. Its a goofball movie for people who don’t mind being goofballs for ninety minutes. The few jokes that miss for you, will hit for some. Its a movie that people all around the world have gone to, laughed, and forgotten any problems they had.
