The Shipping News is about a man who rediscovers himself in a new town after his wife dies. Him and his daughter move to Newfoundland where he begins to work at a newspaper writing The Shipping News.
I’m sorry that I don’t have a better summary, but I think this movie is basically unsummarizable (is that a word?). Besides having a great cast, Kevin Spacey is one of my favorite actors, I was really disappointed by this movie. Between extra and unnecessary details, and a story line that baffled me at some points its hard not to frown. It almost seemed like scenes were added so they could make a certain time, because some scenes were either misplaced or just totally stupid and had a negative effect on the movie.
There were some nice things about this movie Kevin Spacey. He brings so many positive things to a movie. Its remarkable that I disliked this movie so much, but I still think he was great!
Maybe The Shipping News was a little better than I made it sound, but don’t go to the theatre and expect a masterpiece. Because despite my high hopes, this one just didn’t float!
