John Q is about a father pushed to the edge. His son’s heart is failing, his insurance company is saying they won’t cover his heart transplant, and because he has insurance, and a job he can’t get financial aid. What’s a father to do? This one takes a hospital hostage and demands his son’s name be added to the top of the donor list.
A truly moving story! You will actually get angry when John is trying to get money for his son’s transplant. I almost began to talk to the screen when John was trying to collect some money, “John come over here I have some extra money for you!”, I love that in a movie… when you start to feel like the story is REAL and that you’re there. I think its one of the best things a movie can do to you!
Denzel Washington was amazing but that’s really what we’ve come to expect from the guy! He is consistently great in every movie! Robert Duval, Ray Liotta, Anne Heche, all great everyone was great.
Critics aren’t loving this one I can’t understand it. They’re saying its melodramatic, but this is how the real world is. Maybe real people wouldn’t go this far but John Q wasn’t afraid to speak the truth No matter what critic think of this movie, you will enjoy it. I promise. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll smile and you’ll say “Geez, I sure hope this doesn’t happen to anyone I know!” Ignore any critic who doesn’t like it… cause they dislike it for the wrong reasons! Its enjoyable, and its realistic, and its Denzel there isn’t much more you can ask for!
