Showtime is about a cop forced to start on a new reality based television series, after he shoots a camera. His partner winds up being a half cop, half unsuccessful actor, who doesn’t seem to be good at either. As the show goes on they are amazed by its success and find both fame and police work harder to deal with then they’d expected.
De Niro, Murphy! I think you can guess what my first comment on this movie will be. Awesome acting! Robert De Niro is a great actor in any movie, but I’m amazed by his performance in every comedy he’s in. You don’t usually think of him as a comedic actor, but I happen to think that he was funnier then Eddie Murphy in this movie!
The plot wasn’t too original. There have been PLENTY of movies about reality television. But this was different from those. This didn’t focus on the show itself as much as it focused on the production of the show and the evolution of the characters both as people and as police officers.
I thought this movie contained some very good action/police scenes. I’m mostly talking about the chase at the end of the movie, but generally the special effects were good throughout the whole movie.
In conclusion,
This a must see movie for Cop, Comedy fans. It has a little something for everyone!
