Mortal Kombat

American director Paul WS Anderson directed his second film in 1995, inspired by a very popular videogame franchise of the same name. Once per generation, the most authoritative elders of the entire Universe indicate a wrestling tournament involving specifically the Earth and the kingdom of Outworld. The participants are very different personalities from them, and above all with completely different purposes. The tournament, before starting, involves a long phase of preparation. This is where the participants are helped by the lightning god Raiden to forget personal matters and focus solely on their opponents.

On the screen are Robin Shou , Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa , Christopher Lambert , Linden Ashby , Talisa Soto , Bridgette Wilson , François Petit , Peter Jason and Frank Welker . The screenplay is by Kevin Droney, while the music is by George S. Clinton. The costumes, on the other hand, are the work of Ha Nguyen. The film was such a huge box-office success that it resulted in a sequel and a TV series.

Oxygen

French director Alexandre Aja, star of such hits as High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes, gets behind the camera again to direct an adrenaline-pumping and decidedly anxious film. A young woman, Elizabeth Hansen, opens her eyes and finds herself completely immersed in the cryogenic liquid of a mysterious capsule. Not remembering anything due to severe amnesia. She immediately has to deal with the lack of oxygen and with her only source of support: the artificial intelligence named MILO.

Although Anne Hathaway and then Noomi Rapace were in talks for the lead role. The part went to an excellent Mélanie Laurent. To accompany her on the screen Malik Zidi and the voice of Mathieu Amalric. Although the film is recent, critics and audiences have already expressed very positive votes. To be appreciated above all the interpretation of the protagonist and the claustrophobic atmosphere rendered to perfection.

Aquaman

The icon of the contemporary thrill James Wan, director of Saw-The Riddler and The Conjuring takes the responsibility of directing his first superhero movie, choosing a character among the most particular of the DC universe. Arthur Curry, son of Amnesty Bay lighthouse keeper Thomas Curry and Atlantean queen Atlanna, is forced to live with his father after his mother escapes after being chased by the guards of his own kingdom. Following the events that occurred in the Justice League, Aquaman enriches the already vast DC universe, not only with characters but also with twists that open up new scenarios, still far from their resolution.

Former Khal Drogo Jason Momoa plays the role of the aquatic superhero, proving his fondness for the world of fantasy. Accompanying him on the screen is the controversial Amber Heard. Who could lose the role in the Aquaman sequel, following the tormented legal affair that also involves her ex-partner Johnny Depp? Also embellishing the cast are Willem Dafoe, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, Patrick Wilson, Djimon Hounsou, and Graham McTavish.

Fantastic Beasts – The Crimes of Grindelwald

After directing the last four films of the Harry Potter saga. David Yates also begins and continues that of Fantastic Beasts. Which began in 2016 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Freely inspired by the manual of the same name written by JK Rowling, under the pseudonym of Newt Scamander. This saga sees Rowling herself in the role of the screenwriter. The protagonist is the same Scamander. A magizoologist friend of Albus Dumbledore. On a mission around the world to find and protect the most disparate magical creatures. This second chapter explores the fate and life of Gellert Grindelwald. The most powerful dark wizard in the wizarding world of the time, many years before the coming of Lord Voldemort.

The stellar cast sees an incredible Eddie Redmayne as Scamander, joined by Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim as Nagini, and William Nadylam. Impossible not to mention the evergreens Jude Law and the much-talked-about Johnny Depp.
