The creator of the character is Jim Starlin. Thanos was born on Saturn’s moon Titan, where he was considered a misfit. After the fall of the planet, he began to strive for infinite power that will allow him to direct the fate of the universe. In the comics, his motivation is his love for the personification of Death. In the MCU Marvel Cinematic Universe Thanos, seeks to establish cosmic balance by wiping out half of life in an overpopulated universe. In both cases, Thanos intends to achieve the goal of collecting all the Infinity Stones, powerful artifacts that give the owner power over other aspects of reality. Then he could fulfill his dream with just a snap of his fingers. The Infinity Gauntlet is to give Thanos control over the Stones.
In the MCU, Thanos makes his first appearance in the end credits scene of Avengers (2012). Thanos plays the most prominent role in Avengers Infinity War (2018) and Avengers Endgame “(2019), which tells the story of his pursuit of the Infinity Stones and explores his relationship with his two foster daughters, Nebula and Gamora.
