Movie review

This film by the wonderful director Chris Columbus captures at its best the nature of a mother’s relationship with her teenage daughter. Anna and Ben’s mother, Jackie, has long been divorced from their father, who is about to marry his new sweetheart, Isabel. And while the latter does her best to endear herself to the children, their birth mother, of course, tries not to let that happen. Up to a point. “Stepmom” is also worth watching for the sake of watching the excellent acting tandem of Susan Sarandon – Julia Roberts.
