The creators of the characters are Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. Frank Castle is a soldier who cannot find peace after returning from the front. When his wife and children die in mafia settlements, he decides to take revenge using the skills gained in the army. He takes the name Punisher, puts a characteristic skull symbol on his chest and turns into a one man army. In the fight against crime, he is assisted by among others a computer specialist nicknamed Micro. Due to his uncompromising methods, Punisher often comes into conflict with other superheroes, especially Daredevil and Spiderman, who also work in New York.
