The Angry Silence

Inspired by one or more true stories, this 1960s feature by Guy Green tells about destinies and lives that can unite many people. The whole story is based on the experience of Travers, an enterprising and shrewd trade unionist, who refuses defeat and does everything to persuade his comrades to participate in a strike. Tom, on the other hand, is a worker who refuses to join the strike and is pressured by Travers and his colleagues to join the fight. pressures that do not stop at the first protest but continue, up to very serious levels of physical and psychological violence.

The Angry Silence in its original version has a cast consisting of Michael Craig, Anna Maria Pierangeli, Richard Attenborough, Bernard Lee, Brian Murray, and Oliver Reed. Written by Bryan Forbes and Michael Craig, it features Craig himself among the producers, who has a triple role in this work. Richard Attenborough is also in the production with him.

Angelina

A professional parking attendant discovers she has an incurable disease, which leaves her with only a few years to live. It is precisely from here that the second life of Angelina, South African and unstoppable, starts. In the short time she has left, she decides to live all the experiences that she has always denied herself, starting with travels around the world. Challenging the conventions of a society far from everything and everyone, the protagonist challenges herself, deciding not to listen to anyone anymore and to live only her dream.

All were accompanied by a group of very special friends. Emotional and ironic, this comedy-drama is truly a little gem in the Netflix catalog. Written and directed by Uga Carlini, the cast features Euodia Samson, Tshamano Sebe, Kuli Roberts, Marciel Hopkins, June van Merch, Nicole Madell, Thapelo Mokoena, and Colin Moss. The whole film smacks of revenge. Female revenge, but above all linked to the strength of people who are historically discriminated against.

Little Women

One of the most famous girl’s stories ever, taken from the famous novel by Louise May Alcott and the result of an exorbitant number of remakes. In this 1994 version, the feminine touch is evident, being the first remake directed by a female director, Gillian Armstrong. The plot revolves around a family made up exclusively of women: Mrs. March, who has to look after her little daughters: Margaret (Meg), Josephine (Jo), Elizabeth (Beth), and Amy.

Temporarily abandoned by their father, a soldier in the American Civil War, they will learn to mature and face the hardness of life, also through sisterhood and the affection that unites them.

The stellar cast consists of the wonderful Winona Ryder, flanked by Gabriel Byrne, Trini Alvarado, Christian Bale, Claire Danes, Kirsten Dunst, Samantha Mathis, Susan Sarandon, Eric Stoltz, John Neville, and Mary Wickes. The feature film was one of the most popular, receiving three prestigious Academy Award nominations: best actress for Winona Ryder, best costume design, and best score.

Once Upon a Time

By Maestro Quentin Tarantino, who recently revealed that he wants to end his career with the tenth and last film, still in the design phase. Released in theaters around the world in 2019, Once upon a time in Hollywood tells two intersecting stories: that of a star and his stunt double and that of a revised and tampered historical event; the same operation that Tarantino performed with Inglourious Basterds. Rick Dalton is a star in decline, increasingly worried about his career.

Cliff Booth is his stunt double, with a smoking character and several criminal records. Sharon Tate, on the other hand, is a real-life character, whose fate becomes decidedly more magnanimous in the work of the American director.

The cast is a haunt of stars that needs no introduction: Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Zoë Bell, Al Pacino, and Michael Madsen. And then again Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, and Luke Perry, in his last interpretation before leaving us. Ten Oscar nominations, including two awards: Best Production Design for Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh and Supporting Actor to Brad Pitt, who thus obtained the first Academy Award for his acting skills.
