Good Luck (UA) by Asha Azad Films is about a family that gets shocked when one of their members, who is 70 years old, says she’s pregnant.
Angoori (Malti Mathur) is a septuagenarian residing in Ujjain with her son Pappi (Brijendra Kala), daughter in law Sharmilee (Manisha Chitrode) and grandson Brahmdutt (Ashutosh Upadhyay). One day she reveals that she is carrying a child. The entire family feel ashamed and do not know how to react. Son Pappi fears the announcement might make him lose the elections he’s contesting for; therefore, he declares his mother Angoori dead. This news brings Angoori’s married daughter Shobha (Tulika Banerjee) and son-in-law Chunchun (Dr. Azad Jain) to Ujjain.
What happens next? Is Angoori really pregnant?
The story written by Prakhar Shrivastava reminds you of ‘Badhaai Ho’. The screenplay by Abhishek Manoharchanda and Prakhar Shrivastava does not have too much fun or interest. As a result, the drama bores the viewer instead of entertaining them and tickling their funny bone. The pregnancy drama revelation is so tame and silly that it puts off the audience. Duo’s dialogues are very common.
Angoori’s portrayal by Malti Mathur is okay.Brijendra Kala as Pappi has performed quite well.Manisha Chitrode gives routine support as Sharmilee. Dr. Azad Jain passes muster as Chunchun. Tulika Banerjee appears as ordinary as Shobha.Ashutosh Upadhyay’s performance [as] Brahmdutt leaves nothing to talk about.Keshav Sharma [as] Kadam and Virendra Nathaniel [as tailor Lala] pass muster. Others pass muster.
Prakhar Shrivastava’s direction is very weak. Jaydeep Hora’s music is functionally a non-starter. Mukesh Sanket’s lyrics are boring. Rohit Ameriya’s choreography is run of the mill. Background music (Total Audio Works) does not elevate the drama. Deepak Pandey’s camerawork is ordinary. Chandrashekhar Yadav’s art direction does not deserve a separate mention. Manish Pradhan’s editing is loose.
All in all, even if Good Luck has all the luck in the world, it can’t hope to succeed at the turnstiles.
